Corded grass trimmers: compact and easy to use, they are a good alterntive, but feature some limitations in use because of the power cord. Their cutting width is up to 30 cm, and they are suitable to operate on small gardens with no obstacles or wide areas to cover.

Lawn grass: use the model that features wire head and loop handle, for easy and practical work.
Tall and thick grass: use a petrol product with power and performance; these tools come with a sturdier wire head or metal blade, and the bike handle for both comfortable and prolonged working sessions.
Small undergrowth shrubs and brambles: in this case it is necessary to use a metal blade and bike handle to ensure maximum cutting result, in total comfort and safety.

What is the best choice that suits your needs? Here you have the main features of both battery- and petrol-powered brushcutters:

Battery brushcutters: lightweight, easy to use and maintain, low noise and vibrations. Best in class in terms of usability for the user, since they do not pollute and guarantee high-level performance and precision. Suitable for working sessions up to 70 min.

Petrol brushcutters: when the going gets tough, they guarantee increased cutting widths, up to 45cm. They offer a longer runtime, if compared to battery-powered tools, but need to be well-balanced while in use; our advice is to always use the included harness or buy an original STIGA one. If you have a lot of wildly grown, thick grass to take care of, a petrol-powered machine is definitely the right choice.
