How does connectivity work on STIGA robot mowers? 

The technology of the robot is based on data communication between the STIGA Cloud and the robot itself. The connectivity is necessary for the robot to work. After a free period of included connectivity, the user will have to purchase a connectivity pack separately. 
A complimentary two-year connectivity pack is included with the A4 and A8 robots. Subject to product registration within 30 days from the purchase date, the included two-year connectivity pack will be extended for an additional year.. The extension can be obtained by registering the product on stiga.com.

 

Why do you need to buy connectivity?

To work with Stiga AGS and GNSS RTK technology, the robot needs an uninterrupted connection with the STIGA Cloud. This connection happens through the 2G/3G/4G mobile network. 
The connection between the robot and the  STIGA Cloud also allows communication between your smartphone and the robot through the STIGA.GO APP or other official STIGA software.
Without a permanent and stable connection to the STIGA Cloud, the robot cannot work.

 

Available connectivity packs 

Each robot is associated with a specific connectivity pack, which can be purchased directly via the STIGA.GO App. This connectivity pack will provide the necessary data traffic to keep the robot working for 365 days from the date of the purchase of the annual connectivity pack. 

  • Annual connectivity pack A 4: 19,90 € (VAT incl.)
  • Annual connectivity pack A 8: 29,90 € (VAT incl.)

How and where to purchase connectivity pack 

Connectivity packs can only be purchased through the STIGA.GO App or through means from time to time indicated on STIGA.COM .

How does the autonomous robotic lawn mower work?

4G data traffic is used to ensure a constant and robust communication between the robot mower, the STIGA Cloud and the reference station. This means that obstacles in the garden such as walls, trees, bushes, etc. are not a barrier to the robot mower's communication with the rest of the system. As a result, your robot can take full advantage of its autonomy and care for your lawn with extreme accuracy.

The connection between your robotic lawn mower and the STIGA.GO app on your phone works through the phone's data itself and does not use any of the data needed for the robot to work.

How many data are included with the robot?

All STIGA autonomous robot mowers are delivered with free connectivity for the lifetime of your robot. No extra costs needed.  

 

The data traffic is being used by the system from the moment the robot mower leaves the docking station and starts the mowing session. Depending on how big the garden is and how many cutting sessions have been scheduled, the system will use more or less data from the given amount. The data traffic stops when the robotic lawn mower goes back to the docking station, at the end of the mowing session.

Who is the data provider?

For our autonomous robotic lawn mowers and their 4G connection, we chose to partner with Vodafone, and here are some reasons why:

1) Vodafone is the largest network in Europe, this ensures global and secure coverage.

2) STIGA cares about the security and privacy of users. This is why we protect the communication between our autonomous robot mowers and Vodafone SIMs, in order to be ableconnect to the necessary services. This is also the reason why it's not possible to install SIM cards from other providers on our autonomous robot mower.

Is STIGA Cloud safe?

You don't need to worry about your data safety. The servers where our Cloud runs are located in Europe and this means they respect a very restrictive data protection legislation. Choose STIGA, discover quality and enjoy safety.

In the following countries, we can grant the presence of at least one provider that allows the autonomous robot mower to work properly.

Albania, Austria, Balearic, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Isle of Man & Jersey, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom.

This does not grant that the product will work in the whole country, as this depends on may other factors: type of provider available, GPS coverage, 4G coverage, garden shape. Always check with your dealer before installing the robot.
