This time of year sees the final harvests from the summer season. The last remaining late potato varieties will be dug up from the ground and also the container-grown potatoes will be lifted and stored in hessian sacks. This will provide us with plenty of potatoes to last us through the Winter Months. Â
The Winter months are on the way, each year the frosts are appearing later and this has provided more time to finish off those essential end of season tasks. The gardens are slowly being cleaned and prepared for the Winter.Â
There’s no time just yet for putting your feet up, but you can still enjoy a cosy night beside the fire after a day out in the garden.Â
Welcome to part 2 of the July edition of the Grow updates. Here we will give you a round-up of some of the harvests in July. We’ll also talk you through a selection of tools from Stiga that are helping to transform our Garden this Summer. Â
Time flies and we have been busy. Â
June is a busy time on the allotment. The nights should now be frost-free, and the days are long, which gives you plenty of time to get on with the jobs that need doing. There are lots of jobs to do, including planting courgettes and runner beans, watering during hot spells and, of course, harvesting.
Here are some key allotment jobs for June.
A bit of thought and action now will prevent trouble next year.
